Smokey Bear: 75 Years of Positive Propaganda Art
Collector Rick Gibson will lead this session of the Delaplaine’s Art at Noon series to take us on a historical journey from the origins of the campaign to stop forest fires through the life and artists of Smokey Bear. Gibson will use selections from his own collection and from the Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum.
Explore the power of positive propaganda art, the beginnings of the Smokey Bear campaign, and how this icon of environmental safety reached audiences around the world! The program is accompanied by a birthday cake celebration for Smokey, and dessert wine pairing courtesy of Spin the Bottle Wine Company. Bring a lunch or order one from Serendipity Market. Admission is free and open to adults age 21 and older.
